FAQs

What is the difference between a doula and a midwife?

Birth Doulas are non-medical professionals that provide emotional and physical support during the labor and birth experience. Birth Doulas help birthing people feel safe, and empowered and stay informed. Midwives are medical professionals that provide health and safety care during your labor and birth experience. For example, midwives catch babies and take vitals, and doulas do not. Both of the professionals provide prenatal care and support and can work in tandem during your labor and birth experience.

What is the difference between a postpartum doula and a night nurse or nanny?

The difference between postpartum doulas and night nurses or nannies. A postpartum doula is like the all-in-one support package for your family during those early days of parenthood. They step into your home with a warm smile, not only caring for your baby but also extending a helping hand to parents, siblings, and anyone else in your household. They're your go-to for emotional support, newborn care, breastfeeding tips, and even lending a hand with light household tasks.

Now, night nurses or nannies? They're your nighttime baby specialists. These night owls focus mainly on the baby, especially during those late-night hours. Their superpower is ensuring the baby is fed, changed, and cozily comfortable, granting you some much-needed rest. So, whether you're leaning towards the all-encompassing support of a postpartum doula or the nighttime assistance of a night nurse or nanny, the choice is all about what suits your family's unique needs during this precious time.
